About the Job

• DBA focused on day to day production operational tasks, database administration, architecture and automation of database services & solutions
• Primarily working with PostgreSQL database administration & solutions
• Secondarily working with Microsoft SQL Server, Casandra, MySQL and MongoDB
• Support OLTP and OLAP applications
• Work with product teams and make recommendations on SQL & NOSQL technologies
• Support DR activities of database technologies
• Work with peer DBAs and other peer teams as a subject matter expert on specified database solutions & associated technologies
• Provide proactive tuning and capacity optimizations of databases related to BMC products
• Drive Automation and compliance efforts of BMC Helix database platforms
• Take part in 24/7 on-call rotations and shift rotations, if required

Experience

• Intermediate knowledge & experience with PostgreSQL
• Track record of success with automation and compliance of database environments
• Working knowledge working with physical, virtual, AWS and Azure database environments
• Working knowledge working with database technology high-availability solutions
• Experience working with database scripting using PostgreSQL, T-SQL, Cassandra, MongoDB, MySQL, Bash/Shell, PowerShell
• Working knowledge working with operating systems using Windows and Linux
• Working knowledge with SQL and NOSQL solutions in the market
• Experience with performance tuning of database applications or other similar OLTP/OLAP applications
• Adept at working with product teams on database best practices
• Understanding of Change Control, Security and Security practices
• Calm under pressure

• BMC Products including Remedy, MyIT, SmartIT, SmartReporting, DWP, BPPM (Patrol), TrueSight Pulse, BladeLogic, End User Experience Manager (Coradiant), Control-M
• Knowledge of monitoring technologies including agent, agentless, synthetic and real user
• Knowledge of HDS (Hitachi), EMC VMAX/VNX storage technologies
• Other SQL database technologies including Oracle
• ITIL Practices & Agile methodologies
